The Night Mara sits on your chest as you nod off, constricting your breath. You can't move. Your body enters a warm paralysis. A psychedelic halo surrounds your head as you fall into a waking dream that takes you on a whizzing cloud to the edge of a primordial sea, oozing with unknown. After five years going backwards, you transmogrify into the brain of a humpback whale. You can see what he sees. You can feel your heart failing as you descend down into the depths. At the very bottom of the sea floor, a crack opens and swallows you in slow motion. Black. Void. The Night Mara returns and whispers into your ear. You awake in the ancient ruins of Downtown Los Angeles, year 4033. The sky is dusk red. The dusty wasteland is alive, teeming with tiny amphibious creatures who crawl up and down your legs. It tickles badly. You only get a glimpse until a stirring awakes you. Stars surround your body, pricking your flesh. You are coming to. Is this the end? A sharp light hurts your eyes as you enter reality once more. You go about your day, for now.
